Batian is an agro-processing organisation specialized in processing and marketing of high quality food products in Kenya through efficient and world class processing standards and continuous growth of product range and customer base. Batian sources Macadamia nuts from small holder farmers (SHFs). It is in the process of replicating its successful approach by venturing into other products such as; Groundnuts and Cashew nuts in the coming years.
Our Story
Batian Nuts Limited was established in 2017 in Nyagene Village, Meru County, Kenya, as a macadamia processing enterprise with a vision to create employment opportunities for youth. Today, the company employs over 150 workers and supports more than 2,000 organic farmers across Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties. By working closely with local suppliers, Batian Nuts has strengthened economic opportunities while ensuring a consistent market for premium macadamia nuts, renowned for their exceptional taste. The company also promotes sustainable farming by providing farmers with high-yielding macadamia seedlings, empowering them to increase productivity. Guided by its mission to deliver world-class quality, Batian Nuts is committed to supplying quality edible nuts to markets across the globe.
Our Company
Batian Nuts Ltd (BNL) is an agro-processing company incorporated in 2017 as a private limited liability company. BNL’s factory and principal offices are in Nyagene village, Meru County, Kenya. The founders of BNL, comprise a team of skilled and experienced business people and professionals. This team has diverse and deep experience in Agribusiness and especially in the Kenyan edible nuts industry.
Vision
To be a world class processor and marketer of the best food products while improving the livelihoods of our stakeholders and conserving the environment along the value chains in which we operate. BNL was started so that it could capture and fill in a gap in the off taking of Macadamia nuts, ground nuts and cashew nuts produced by small holder farms in the larger Meru region, comprising of Tharaka Nithi and Meru Counties.These crops are grown by thousands of small-scale growers and the produce is processed and the products are largely exported to the United States of America, Europe, Japan and Asia
